I’ve had thoughts about this before but I don’t think I’ve ever tried to put it in print. Sometimes I think about common ideas and what would happen if they were suddenly proven wrong or an idea that just no one had thought of before. For instance – what if it was suddenly and unexpectedly shown that tree pollen only causes an allergic reaction in people who will get a specific disease? Just no one ever realized. What if every person who has or will have cancer gets red itchy eyes when the oak pollen falls and people who have bodies that will never produce cancerous cells also can rub a tree on their face with no ill effects?
So what if a lot of the things that are classified as mental illness and “fixed” are just the way it’s supposed to be? That’s really all I have to say about it, I don’t want to tread on anyone’s feelings and I certainly don’t know enough about different mental illnesses. It’s really more about how things would be different if we were more supportive and accepting of people who didn’t fit into the preapproved personality types.
