Three Things

Pain

AHHHH My Head Hurts! Kept waking up with a sinus headache. Weather changes and melting snow I assume. I am doing all the sinus fixing things today.

Gross (public service announcement)

For the last few months we’ve noticed a ridiculous increase in dust in our home. But then I noticed it wasn’t really dust. It was a fine white film settling in areas. Not all areas. So I spent time not cleaning it and trying to figure it out. I realized it was thickest near the floor. Then I noticed it was thickest at the bottom of the louvre doors to where the furnace lives and in the lines leading from the vents to the furnaces. My husband checked the furnace filter and it was definitely covered even though it had been changed weeks earlier. Then I had an epiphany. Heavily mineraled & chemicaled water + humidifiers! Our water here is super filled with minerals and leaves residue everywhere that water lives. So I got one of the PUR water filters that fit on the sink, bleached and rinsed my humidifiers and switched. I think that was the answer but something unexpected has happened.
My humidifiers are always gross. They get constant algae and slime. Pink slime to be exact. I spend a lot of time trying to keep them clean. Well, I DID spend a lot of time, it’s gone. It has not reoccurred since we switched to using the filtered water. And the water in the humidifiers somehow looks cleaner?? This is the reason we stopped drinking Toledo water many years ago and switched to bottled water (big five gallon refillable bottles). So if you are prone to pink slime you might want to consider a PUR.

Vaccine for Covid-19

I really want the vaccine but am not eligible yet under Ohios guidelines. Sometimes on the news I hear stories about how we are pushing to get groups vaccinated. Sometimes the talk is about groups that are also not eligible but they are having special clinics set up for them and I find myself feeling a little selfish and mean. Why not me???? Then I remember how freaking lucky I am. I am in a position that allows me to avoid people and be safe. Not everyone is so lucky. Honestly I mostly just want the vaccine so I can meet a friend for dinner. Come on! How selfish am I ? I 💯 appreciate my circumstances.

I was researching pink slime and it’s a bacteria. So they say it cannot be caused by water, but I don’t know change one and the other disappears.

I still haven’t gotten a humidifier because of all the problems like that. People have suggested using buying/using filtered water for them but as dry as we are here, that would be wildly expensive. Your solution would be better. We still have an old humidifier for which we can no longer buy filters and they would always get gross so quickly. Cleaning and filling that thing was such a chore.

    Headache/sinus issues here, too.

It sounds like vaccine accessibility should be ramping up soon! I just think the administration/distribution has been so horrible. We registered everywhere but most places are still only at people in their upper 70s! Or they haven’t been released any vaccines yet. However, I just saw a message from our local hospital that sounds like they are going to be making more progress starting next week. Gotta believe that it will ramp up soon everywhere. They were doing teachers starting yesterday for the next few days so I hope that means they will get that process fine-tuned and at least catch up to Ohio’s allowed groups.

When it comes down to it, you might want to even check around to towns that are some distance away. We were clued in to a pharmacy that was administering them at a Senior Citizen’s center about a half hour’s drive away. It felt a little like cheating to me. I am not sure why that town was able to get so many doses when our our town had only a couple of hundred a week with a backlog of many thousands of registered people. And their vaccination rate is higher than our town, which made me feel better about it. I liked that they posted when they could take new appointments, and paperwork could be prepared online.

I hope it comes soon for you!
