Mini – Focus

So this is what happened. A few months ago Sean was in an accident and the car was totaled. It was very important for his brand new job that he have a car so he started taking my car. All Good.

When I needed to be somewhere I got up early and took Corey to work and then would pick him up. No biggie. Except…..I do not sleep well and this was causing me to not get enough sleep some days, not terrible, but I have enough physical problems without adding that. And then Corey has had to work at a different location a few times and needed his car. This caused me to move an appointment that I should not have. I was delayed in a shot that I get and am still recovering from that.

Then Corey and I were looking at used cars, not for me, for Sean, and just as a coincidence we were looking at the same site and they had this nice little Ford Focus we were both looking at to point out to Sean. BUT when we were both sitting in the same room we both had the same concerns about Sean buying a car and immediately having to drive it 90 minutes two ways every day for work. Neither one of us has bought a used car in a very long time and only remember not the greatest experiences. Seconds later I saw this adorable little Mini Cooper Convertible! It was super old, and super cheap and I just wanted it. And corey said, go buy it. I thought it would be great for the summer fun and the dogs and since I really only need it until Sean can get a little more financially secure, hopefully only a few more months, perfect!

So after chemo yesterday I went to the car lot and dealt with a very nice man, and saw the adorable mini-cooper and discovered that it was a manual shift. Which I do not want. I currently. Only have one 100% working shoulder so even if I was comfortable driving a stick, no. Bad idea. And then I remembered the focus. So, two hours later, less than 24 hours after bringing up the idea, I bought a car.

I am of course all paranoid about something being terribly wrong with it now. The nice thing about only buying new cars for the last few decades is if something is wrong you go to the dealer and stare at them and they fall over themselves to fix it. Also this morning at 6am I woke up thinking, I never checked for a spare tire! Sigh.

But YAY! I am mobile again and don’t have to worry about making a mess in Corey’ pristine car.

I was so excited fpr your mini cooper!!
But yay for having wheels again.
We just went thru something simular. My old dependable jeep became completely undependable at the same time Jesse’s car did. Jesse’s car is on the road again and I had to buy anither vehicle. That I don’t “need” a lot but when I need it, I need it. Used Santa fe. I don’t love it but…yay for wheels. Meantime we will invest the $$ to fix the jeep this summer and either sell or Jesse will take it over. It will probably be in better shape at that point than his suburu.
I hate cars. But that mini cooper….

I bought my first used car EVER in 2015. Nissan Rogue…it’s a 2013 and we are still driving it….I realized how much more sensible it is to buy used for a runaround car. I loved the cooper too. My Kate has one that is probably 6 years old now and has only had to have new brake pads. I hope you love the new little car!!!

Our focus was very reliable, and never needed more than routine maintenance in 130k miles, when we sold it recently it was still never serviced by other than myself, and running perfectly. I think you should be good here, good luck!

Maybe I bought yours! 130k on it !
Just had all the needed fixes done and I’m still below market value so keeping fingers crossed. I live right down the street from the best AAA Service. They’ve been really good to me, and they said it looks solid.
