Sooooooo

This is what happened

Last year I started losing weight. Specifically I was losing fat. At some point you need to have some fat to protect your organs but I could not stop.

Not coincidentally I also started having trouble with food. Everything was making me sick. This all started about the same time that I started a new medicine. The med would make my stomach hurt, very painfully, for 3 or 4 days after I took it.

In January I took the med and had terrible excruciating pain. Scary terrible.Did not do anything about it because I thought I have already told the assorted Drs that the med made me sick. Guess it was just the way it was.

Couple of days later I finally ate again and it was a repeat of the pain. After a week or so I finally went to the Dr. He said he suspected Gallbladder issue, pancreatitis and gastritis and referred me to another dr.

Skip forward a week haven’t eaten sold food in a week or so and New Dr says – Gallbladder has to come out and do liver biopsy. Then all hell broke loose! Had an MRI and lots of problems showing up, All the Drs talk to each other and worlds best oncologist starts stepping in and getting shit done! Surgery scheduled for Feb 3 I wait patiently for the week and go in for surgery.

Surgeon goes in to take gallbladder laparoscopically but cuts the wrong duct.

Chaos and drama ensues. I am transferred to a different hospital (my first ambulance ride) another surgeon who is considered a master at this spends 7 hours on her day off doing surgery #2. Done, off to ICU – everything inside was gross and inflamed and just a mess. Went into aFib in ICU. Hey, look at that I have a heart condition now!

So now here I sit a week later with some rocking pain, surgical and liver and wearing a heart monitor.

I am writing this now because if feels like I have finally hit the point where things are all starting to get better and I am looking to be released tomorrow or Friday.

So in my future is liver maintenance and treatment? It’s cirrhosis so I do not know what that means for long term, but until it heals from all the damage from Gallbladder, I am not thinking about that. Heart monitor for a month to see what we need to see about that.

My family has been waiting on me hand and foot and keeping me sane and fed.❤️❤️

A lot of lucky things came together at the right time❤️‍🩹

  1. I’m sorry it is cirrhosis. My liver numbers improved after my gallbladder came out.

So my protocol is every 6 months a ct scan but since you have now conquered MRIs that is probably what they will want you to have. The blood tests I get every six months —

    BASIC METABOLIC PANEL
    COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT
    PROTHROMBIN TIME/INR (PTI)
    HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA RISK PANEL

I’m sure they will do a lot differently but this is the basic plan.

I’m so glad that you have a family that loves you and takes care of you so well.

    1. I did three MRIs!

Tracy, is so hard! I am so sorry you are having another health journey. Can you eat yet? May the pain decrease.

    1. It still hurts when I eat but it’s definitely improving

  3. Oh, my word;I figured it must have been awful, but that is worse than I imagined!!!

The gallbladder stuff ALONE is beyond painful from what I have heard.

But my gosh…to cut the wrong duct…

I am sorry you had to go through all of that, but glad you could have your family’s support.

Even happier that you are looking forward to going home!

    You are amazing!

    1. Thank you so much. I think people could’ve judged how I felt by how quickly my political posts went down in volume.
I really have received the best care at this hospital though and I’ve been really lucky

I think you used to call me a wuss. Well, you’re right! There’s no way I would have the courage and stamina that you’ve got and have had for so many years. I admire you. I hope you’re feeling better everyday and that you can get back to posting about the country’s chaos and not yours.

    1. I have never called you a wuss TM!
And thank for the lovely words. 🙂
