Todays complaint is about fruit.
I like some fruits. Not all fruits. What I really like is a nice fruit salad. I am on an occasional very strict diet and can only have so much fruit at a time. So really what I want is about 2 medium size servings of fruit salad, 3 ish times a month. I want some sliced up melon, and grapes, and blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, really anything that is fresh and sweet and tasty. Maybe even occasionally slice up a half a banana in it!
So, if I go to the grocery store I can buy a bowl of fresh sliced mixed fruit. 2 tracy size servings will cost me $5.99. So if I bought this 4 times a month it is $24.00. I do not find that completely unreasonable except that buying sliced fruit in a bowl is very similar to the game of Avocado roulette. The last bowl I bought I could not eat the strawberries as they were hard as rocks and as sour any sour candy you could buy. I also had some very hard pineapple and a few grossly squishy blueberries.
Okay – so you say why not just buy the fruit and make your own?
Random fruit selection from what is available currently online – not my preferred mix
Really not terrible. This would make enough fruit salad for me for a month. Except it does not really work that way does it? So you buy all the fruit, you prep all the fruit, you put all the fruit all together in a beautiful mix and you eat your cup of fruit today, and then another tomorrow, and then by day number 3 some of its not looking so great. And the melon smell is getting a little overpowering. So by day 4 it is going out with the garbage, and then you have to start all over again.
I need a fruit salad co-op. Every two weeks someone makes a giant fruit salad and then we all split if five ways. We all need to live really close together though or it would get so tedious!
This is what I have been thinking about for the last 48 hours.
