As things often do, something I was thinking about last week has crossed my path in multiple ways in the last three days.
Many of us have secret passions. Things we do to create in some way or another. Fiber crafts like knitting, embroidery, sewing, or word crafts like writing blogs, stories, poetry, or even a few painters in my circle placing colors on surface that turn into images from our minds.
So here is what I was thinking about. How much is validation worth?
If you were given a chance to go on a television show and WIN for your passion but what you won was a choice between money or acknowledgment as being the best which would you want?

You enter a poetry contest and win. You can have $20,000 (tax free) but you can’t tell anyone that the experts say your poetry made them cry with joy. You get no money, no prize, no trophy, but it is announced that YOU are not just talented, you are more talented than the other gazillion people who entered the poetry contest. Not fortune, just a tiny bit of fame.
I think for me it would be a terrible choice. Just terrible.
