There be dragons!

I had another Afib episode last night and it made me mad! My brain gets very angry when I cannot, if not control, at least understand why something is happening.

I had some flutters (cardiologist word, not mine) late evening then later after being asleep for about 30 minutes woke up in the midst of my HR going from 45 to 180. UN-Freaking-Pleasant! I thought I had been so careful, doing all the right things all week after last weeks little passing out episodes, so why?

This morning I thought, well, there was one new variable. Maple syrup flavored smoke! So off I went on a search. BiNGO!

The Effects of Air Pollution on Atrial Fibrillation: A Systematic Review

Conclusions: This review affirms a significant association between air pollution, particularly PM2.5and NO2, and the risk of atrial fibrillation. The findings suggest that even pollutant concentrations deemed “safe” may increase AF risk, particularly in vulnerable populations. Future research should standardize exposure assessment and explore understudied pollutants and effect modifiers. These results underscore the importance of air quality regulations as a public health intervention to reduce AF burden and support cardiovascular health.

There are many studies out there confirming the correlation between air pollution, in particular smoke particulates and increased AFIB.
You all just keep opening up those coal burning regulations.

ALSO Just a FYI – the very first study I found was exclusively made up of male data.
