My Cup Runneth Over

And by Runneth Over – I mean spill

I have two cups that I use for tea. You have probably seen them because they show up in my pictures frequently.

I have this white one and also a purple one. Both cups are from Piper Lou. I have always been a ceramic or glass cup person and did not use these a lot until I discovered their perfectness for herbal teas. I do not generally drink white or black or green tea anymore. We always have some in the house because Corey does drink them. I drink herbal teas or more accurately tisanes

So these mugs keep my tea hot for about four (yes you read that correctly) hours. This is important for many herbals because the longer you steep them the more benefit you get. I have always been a leave the bag in the cup kind of person so the four hours is perfect. I can make a cup of hot tea and take it with me places! The lid is not spill proof but it is pretty damn close. Also the cup is big, but not giant! So one bag is enough but it’s s not some tiny twee little cup of delicate tea.

Here is the problem. The lids are not made to last longer than a year. I have two cups and therefore two lids. A lid broke. Okay – not great, but okay – I still have another lid. Then lid two broke, and that is when I discovered that without the lids, these cups are no longer magical. The tea cools down just as quickly as any other non-magical pedestrian cup.
You say go to the website and order another lid silly! THEY DO NOT SELL REPLACEMENT LIDS FOR THESE CUPS AND THESE CUPS ALONE! What kind of fckery is that! I do not want to order another cup just to get the lid. In six months I would end up with 3 cups and no lid because it will break. The cycle would never end.

This last week I realized I had completely stopped drinking tea in the last couple of weeks. 🙁 This is not good. Herbal tisanes are good for you. I can have vitamins, I can have anti-inflammatories and I get hydration.

This weekend it occurred to me that maybe there are other manufacturers who make the same kind of cup and lid? There are not, BUT there are some that are close. I very carefully measured my cup and then spent a long time on Amazon looking for replacement lids. I think I found one. It should be coming this afternoon. I am stupid excited about it. If it fits I will order three more! Ooo I will also celebrate by ordering my favorite teas, maybe some nice Pineapple Lychee!

If you hear a loud cheer of joy this afternoon coming from my end of the city you know what happened!
