I wasn’t going to talk about this because it seems so overblown and dramatic of me but then this morning I woke up feeling like someone punched me in the side, so now I am just annoyed.
Yesterday was my quarterly echocardiogram which is usually about the most innocuous test you can have. The only time I ever have pain or discomfort is when they are trying to get a view of a certain section of my heart that is blocked by my apparently too close together ribs. But this was not the case yesterday.
Went to The Toledo Clinic Main campus (for those of you that are local) and it was 95 degrees outside. Toledo clinic is doing the wait in your car until they call you deal. So, called them, registered and then played some Pokémon, and some pictocross while sitting in my car, in the sun, for 35 minutes. Got my call and went in. Wearing my mask of course (oh, that reminds me, need to collect them all and wash them). Go past the man smoking in front of the doors to the cardiologist office.
Into the room. – wait – why is it so warm??? Uhg. Strip my top half, throw on a gown hop onto the table. Tech comes in. Table is on the right in this room. Have to roll onto my left shoulder. The sore one. She throws the towel under my right shoulder and then I roll half way back down and we begin.
She grabs the sheet on the table and pulls me closer Weird, but still okay. Some people in the medical field do that instead of asking you to move, they just move you where they want. Except the sheet is now pulled away from the vinyl table, in the hot room. We begin.
I am literally laying against her at certain areas. So her heat, the machine heat, the vinyl. Sore shoulder. She uses my hip bone, which is also a part of me that is sore ALL THE TIME as a prop for her arm which she lays across me, heavily. More her heat. 25 minutes.
It was just all uncomfortable. I could have said something about her touching me, but this was what she needed to do to get results, Short armed lady. I could have taken a break, but I am use to medical things that cause discomfort and I knew it wasn’t going to last that long and so just wanted to get through it.
This morning my right side back ribs are so sore, I assume from the twisted angle, It hurts when I breathe. It’ll probably all fade away by the time I am up and running but UGH! I’ve been thinking about asking my oncologist to send me to a different cardiologist because we have trouble getting the results from them. This might be enough to push me to do it.
