Just WorkOut Talk

Is it time to stop?

I work out 5 days a week for 50 to 55 minutes. I hit all the major muscle groups, plus a few minor and then throw some cardio in there too. I am a creature of habit so once I find a schedule that fits for me I keep doing it.

My theory has always been do whatever you need to do to take away all excuses and make it something you look forward to.

So here is morning schedule:

  1. Wake Up, take pills, drink coffee, play games.
  2. Make meal replacement /protein shake, make cup of coffee with a tablespoon of coconut milk powder and a sprinkle of vanilla powder. Blend everything. (Dogs will now wake up) put jars in fridge. I use two lovely purple mason jars that my friend MB sent me
  3. Grab Phone (for timers and bike speed app) open the magic gate from kitchen to hallway. This is when he dogs come running.
  4. Put cat treats in Franks slow feeder,
  5. Turn around and see two dogs patiently waiting for their part in the ritual – give out two soft tasty treats each.
  6. into workout room I go. Turn on the giant TV to find something trashy to run in background, fill my dish with Tracy treats – gummy vitamins and iron, put mat on floor, turn on extra cell phone that has my interval timer for riding and my neighbors Fitbit (I sync hers from afar and keep the storage clean and the time up to date)
  7. WorkOut
  8. Drink Protein Shake (coffee is for afternoon machiatto

Two through six really only take 10 minutes but for me they are the important steps that put me into the pattern so I just keep going to finish. But I find myself lately lookng for reasons to skip my workout.

If I skip a workout the whole schedule falls apart. Anarchy reigns , dogs and cats do not get morning treats, I do not get my vitamins or hit my protein or coffee* goals for the day.

But I need to switch things up for awhile. I am getting bored with my routine. Maybe I will start doing cardio only every other day for awhile to cut it short but sill get the all the groups over the week. I dunno. If I had two working lungs I would go back to gym. Three days a week there was like 9 days a week at home!

Have you read Spoon River Anthology?

*Yes, I have a coffee quota to meet now that my liver has had enough of me filling my body with drugs.

Went to the butterfly house yesterday, have a picture or two
